About Me!

There are so many words that could describe me! Shiny, sparkly & pink being three that immediately come to mind! I am a very eclectic person and half the time I don’t even understand myself let alone try to explain it to anybody else!

I am a single mother to Megan (10) and Nathan (8) and this blog is about (other than my addiction to new shoes!) … well, it’s my place to laugh, cry and complain with my random (and sometimes somewhat misguided!) mutterings about the nonsense I encounter on a daily basis!

I am 33 years old and also have my own business as a candlemaker… although to be honest, the credit crunch has hit me hard and I am not sure how long I can keep it going … watch this space!!!

50 random things about me – just for fun …

1. I am a typical girl. I am automatically and uncontrollably drawn to anything that is pink or sparkly!
2. I am WAY too hard on myself. I push myself a lot and have high expectations of myself.
3. I have made a lot of mistakes in my life. Some bigger than others. If I could have my life as a “do-over” I would do a LOT very differently.
4. At the same time there is a LOT I wouldn’t change.
5. My children are the most important thing in the world to me.
6. I am often called a pessimist but I’m not. I am an optimist with experience.
7. The glass can be half full AND half empty. If you only fill it half way then it’s half full. If you fill it up and drink half, then it’s half empty.
8. I procrastinate way too much. If I spent less time talking about what I need to do and more time doing it … I’d probably get more done.
9. My biggest fear is being completely alone … but I have good friends and close family so that will never happen!
10. I have an exterior mask of self confidence… trust me it is all an illusion.
11. I love being around people but am a solitary person at heart.
12. I am a night owl and I hate mornings. My natural body clock would prefer me to sleep 3am-11am and miss out Monday mornings completely!
13. I know a LOT of people but have a very small circle of very close friends.
14. I hate HATE HATE monotony and can’t stand being bored.
15. I am NEVER bored – I always have way too much to do.
16. Yes, I probably am a classic “Type A” personality!
17. I once almost lost the end of my middle finger on my left hand when it got shut in a sliding door. It had to be stitched back on at the hospital and just missed the nerves!
18. I strongly believe in karma and the rule of threefold return. It WILL come back to you! This worries the crap out of me.
19. I am fairly patient but I have a line that you don’t want to cross. When I lose my temper it blows big!
20. I HATE being cold. In winter I have to be snuggled up with big jumper and fluffy slippers
21. I’ve had two miscarriages.
22. I am very judgemental although I try hard not to be. It is probably my worst fault.
23. I am really REALLY indecisive. If both options look good, I’m stuck! 3 options? Forget it!
24. I have never broken a single bone in my body.
25. But I bruise very very easily!!
26. I am very easy to please and find amusement in much that surrounds me!
27. I love people watching and imagining the life behind the face of a stranger. I do this in the rare moments of boredom I have in my life waiting in queues etc.
28. I can eat a donut without licking my lips.
29. I need at least two cups of coffee before leaving the house in the morning.
30. According to a web test my IQ is 135 – above average but definitely not genius!
31. I have no time for people who try to convert others to their views. Or people who use religion to gain power.
32. I am not a quitter. When I set my mind to a task I see it right through to the end.
33. Maybe that’s why I am still a smoker.
34. I “do” hats. You could literally put ANY hat on my head and it would suit me.
35. I still have the broken key to the very first place I ever lived by myself.
36. I could never “dance like nobody is watching” because I can’t dance. Period!
37. I drive with the music LOUD and the window open.
38. I love white knuckle rides and get a thrill from being scared!
39. I listen to music all the time. Whether it’s the radio or a CD I usually have something playing.
40. I rarely watch TV and could happily live without one.
41. I can touch type and my fingers type faster than I can think!
42. I love words and it can be hard to shut me up once I go off on a tangent!
43. I can’t stand people who are arrogant and full of themselves. You can’t have a conversation with people like this.
44. I love a good bottle (or three) of wine and drink probably far too much.
45. I believe in the emotional quality of “ME” time. Even if it is just twenty minutes locked in the bathroom while I have a long soak, we all need time out from the world.
46. I am totally 100% natural blonde but I did dye my hair chestnut brown once to see what life was like on “the other side.” I looked like Snow White with my pale skin.
47. I am an old fashioned romantic kind of girl. I like a man to open a door for me and offer to carry my heavy bags. I like romantic walks on the beach and holding hands.
48. Manufactured and commercial romance means very little to me. I would much rather see something spontaneous and romantic for no reason like a little note left on the pillow or a small gift “because I saw it and thought of you” rather than a fluffy bear and naff card on Valentines Day because he thought he was supposed to.
49. I’d choose true and deep love over money any day.
50. I’d also choose warm freshly baked bread drizzled with olive oil over chocolate!
51. I can never tell lies. When I do – I always get found out.
52. I hate the British weather and would love to live somewhere hotter than the UK!!
53. I sleep with three pillows. Two semi firm ones and then a top one like a cloud.

Ok that was more than 50 … but this is me – I never was about following the rules!
